Harrie grew up in Katikati and spent a lot of time in the bush from a young age with his three sisters, including Laura who went through the YSAR programme. After leaving school he followed his passions to become a rock climbing instructor which he did for 7 years. Harrie continues to develop his outdoor skills through doing a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Majoring in Outdoor Education. He has been with YSAR for 2 years delivering ropes, navigation and field craft skills, among other subjects to the students. He came on board the leadership team after helping on a series of SAR exercises. Harrie is an essential part of the faculty and holds great respect from the students who attend the programme.
