Return to face to face training at YSAR

The announcement by the Prime Minister stating that indoor gatherings can include up to 100 people means that we can resume face to face training while at Alert Level 2. We can confirm that classroom and weekend training exercises will resume, from 4 pm on 2 June 2020.

As our Leaders are volunteers we appreciate that they, alongside the rest of New Zealand, are facing difficult challenges at the moment.

Alert Level 2 is not a return to normal and as such a number of additional steps will be required to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our members during this period. Groups are putting extra measures in place to manage contact tracing, hygiene, and cleaning.

The safety and the well-being of our young people and volunteers remains paramount.  We strongly advise those:

  • over 70
  • with a compromised immune system
  • with underlying health conditions
  • living with vulnerable people

If your young person is unable to attend YSAR, please let your Cohort leader know so we can make arrangements to support them until we move to Alert Level 1.

If your young person is showing any symptoms, such as temperature, runny nose, continual coughing, please keep them at home.

Thank you for your patience and support over the past few months. Our focus has been to provide a sense of continuity, connection, and community to your young people over the past eight weeks via digital learning.

Like you, we are extremely excited to see our young people back in their local group enjoying YSAR and all the benefit it offers.
